What you’ll be doing:

Join the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and contribute to ensuring the organisation’s emergency response fleet is effectively maintained, monitored, and operationally ready to support communities across New South Wales. This position combines hands-on mechanical expertise with a strong focus on asset management, maintenance planning, data analysis, and performance reporting. 

The Mechanical Officer is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of RFS heavy vehicles, light vehicles, and associated equipment. The role utilises the corporate asset management system to plan and record maintenance activities, monitor service delivery, and generate reports to support operational and strategic planning.

The position also contributes to the development and ongoing management of the fleet replacement program, ensuring vehicles and equipment remain fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, and aligned with organisational requirements.


To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in light and medium rigid truck maintenance, working with various contractors in multiple locations.
  • A focus on maintaining accurate records in a corporate setting will be an essential and demonstrable requirement for the successful candidate.
  • The ability to work to tight timeframes as part of a small team is vital.
