If you enjoy working outdoors and want to make a difference in the community, a role in our Mitigation Crews could be for you!

About our crews

A role in our Mitigation crews is a great entry level opportunity where you will be able to learn new skills and obtain qualifications to kick start your career in the NSW RFS. It also provides a career path to our Operational Officer Program.

As a member of our Mitigation crews, no two days of work will be the same.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting and rewarding activities including hazard reduction work, AIDER program activities, working closely with internal and external stakeholders and undertaking operational and logistical support roles at incidents.

We value the expertise and knowledge of Country that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can bring to the Service and have a range of positions which are targeted to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The RFS recently formalised our commitment to Reconciliation with the launch of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. To support the progression of the action items within the plan, we have engaged a RAP Working Group comprised of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Members and Non-Indigenous members, from all areas, roles, and responsibilities across the Service.
