What you’ll be doing:
Based in Quirindi, the General Hand supports the Liverpool Range District not only in an administrative and operational capacity, but takes an active role in community engagement to foster positive local relationships and increase the reputation of the RFS.
Reporting to the District Manager, this role is essential to the smooth running of District activities and services. Day to day activities will include:
- Responding to enquiries
- Maintaining records and relevant information
- Monitoring responses to incidents
- Supporting relevant projects and programs
- Supporting fleet and vehicle movements
- Supporting and maintaining stores and inventory
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Current RFS Bush Firefighter (BF) certification or an equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain.
- A current Driver Licence and the willingness and ability to travel.
- A current Forklift Licence or willingness to obtain.
- A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to actively participate in managing workplace health and safety and understanding of safe operation of plant and equipment and working at heights.
- No physical condition preventing normal field activities of the job (i.e. non-arduous).
- Expertise in Bush Firefighting and implementing bush fire hazard mitigation measures or willingness to obtain.
- May be required to participate on an after-hours and/or on-call roster.
- During periods of major operational activity, the incumbent may be required to support operational management activities consistent with their skills and background.
